A vacation truly isn't whole without your furbaby with you, am I right? Thankfully, hotels are making it easier for us dog parents to bring our pooch along for the trip. So ditch your dog sitter, pack the toys/treats, and hit the road with your pup!
Last month, we stayed in San Diego, California for one night, then we headed out to Phoenix, Arizona, for four days. Since we have two Dachshunds and one Great Dane, we could not bring all three dogs along for the trip; however, we decided to bring Carl, our dachshund with IVDD (we'll save that story for another post). Throughout our vacation, we stayed at three dog-friendly hotels, which is why we decided to write this post. If you want to travel with your pup, but you are unsure where to stay, then continue reading this blog.
If your dog is a barker or gets motion sickness in the car, then I would not suggest staying bringing your pup along for the trip. The experience should be enjoyable rather than stressful. After all, you are on vacation. To ensure the hotel you plan on staying at has a pet-friendly room available, I would recommend calling the hotel in advance. Many hotels have pet fees along with restrictions like breed and weight limitations, so don't forget to ask about it when you call (unless you like surprises)!
If you can't bring your dog along for whatever reason, then we recommend you search for a trustworthy dog sitter, family member, or kennel to look after your pup. Rover and Dogvacay have recently joined forces, so we recommend visiting one of their sites if you need to find a professional dog sitter.

There are various perks for staying at the dog friendly hotel. Many of the dog hotels listed above will treat your pup like the royalty they are! We have received everything from a dog bed, dog toys, pet bowls, mats, and dog treats for free. Now that's what I'm barking about - hotels like this get five woofs from us!
